LovesVinyl Website

Digital Design, Research, Strategy, UI, UX

BRIEF
I was asked by Dublin Vinyl to assist with the redesign for their sub-brand LovesVinyl, a vinyl subscription service. The previous iteration of the site had proved too complicated for users & visually did not represent the brand well.

SOLUTION
My role was to look to identify problems with the previous site, & to plan a visual pathway for the new site, with the development & checkout system being handled in-house. To identify the solution I needed to pinpoint the problems with the current site. I conducted a site audit & found the site was muddled & confusing with multiple buttons & pages occupying the same function, as well as long copy that was completely unsuitable for a website. It felt like lots of parts were welded in as an afterthought. From this I created a vastly simplified site map & wireframe iterations before settling on a much simplified design solution.

When it came to the design stage I reduced the menu down to it’s primary functions; ‘Join Now’ & ‘Log-In’ (which would be visible at all times). I created a hierarchal modular system which allowed LovesVinyl to adapt the site as they needed, updating image & copy to quickly react to their needs. I also added a ‘Features’ section so they can add fresh content to give users a reason to visit the site beyond it’s primary function.
